Running Buffalo Clover, Trifolium stoloniferum

This clover is native to North America and is federally endangered.  It is a three-leafed white flowered clover confusingly similar to Dutch clover common to suburban lawns.  The running buffalo clover habitat consists of mesic woodlands in partially filtered sunlight.  It is also abundant in areas that have patterns of disturbance, such as old logging roads, jeep trails, and mowed wildlife opening within mature forests.  Endangerment of this species is due to drastic habitat transformation, invasive plant species, and grazing.  Support for this clover can be continued through support of National Wildlife Parks.
