Great St. John’s Wort, Hypericum pyramidatum

This perennial plant is vulnerable in the state of Indiana.  The Great St. John’s Wort is two to five feet tall and has large yellow flowers.  The natural habitat of the Great St. John’s Wort is in the wetlands with grasses or on gravelly riverbanks.  Its range is throughout the northern Midwest and East Coast of the United States and eastern Canada.  This plant is grown in gardens, however it is imperiled in the wild.  The major threat to Great St. John’s Wort is habitat loss.
