Great plains ladies’-tresses, Spiranthes magnicamporum

Great plains ladies’-tresses is found across the Great Plains, as the name implies, and it is critically imperiled in our state.  It is a perennial that grows up to 15 inches tall.  The flowers are white with a tinge of yellow on the lower lip and bloom from late summer to early fall.  Great plains ladies’-tresses grows in glade and prairies.  Their biggest threat is habitat destruction.
