Fat Pocketbook, Potamilus capaxphoto courtesy of USFWS The fat pocketbook is a clam that is vulnerable in the state of Indiana and throughout its range—the Ohio, Wabash and Mississippi Rivers. It is small, round, and has an inflated shell. The fat pocketbook lives in sand, gravel, or muddy streams with flowing water. The major threats to the fat pocketbook include changes in water temperature, water flow, water quality, damming, and, channeling.
