Cave beetle, Pseudanophthalmus shilohensis

Pseudanophthalmus shilohensis is one of many cave beetle species critically imperiled in Indiana.  This beetle is endemic to our state and can only be found I three caves.  These caves are located in Owen, Monroe and Lawrence Counties.  Recreational caving can be very destructive to cave habitats and proper guidance should be obtained before anyone enters a cave. The major threat for cave beetles is habitat degradation.
